A day on the water

While waiting for the ferry to Nanaimo for Brad's massage, Stacey asked us if we'd like to go with them while they traversed their sailboat from the marina on the south end of the island to their mooring ball on the north end.

Yup..... obviously.... Yup.

They kindly waited for us to return from the massage.

Note the rogue log we had to dodge while leaving the marina

Me being cute, as always.... :D

Bad sun angle but that green roof in the hill is the cottage on our property

... and our house, though hard to see is through the trees

After dropping us on shore, Stacey goes back for Jon

Jon and Stacey return to shore and we drove them back to the marina for their vehicles.

New Deal

I reposted the RV on Kijiji Saturday and I added $5K to the price since I listed it too low last time.

Sunday a couple from another island to the north of us called and wanted to see it that day if possible.... Another trip across but off we went.

But first, we had a pre-existing appointment to look at a sailboat. Yup, you read that right. We're looking at sailboats once again. However, it had significant mold so in the end that was out.

Showed the RV to this couple who absolutely loved it. Apparently I forgot to mention the auto levelling jacks in the ad so they were pleasantly surprised about that and the man has a CPAP so the RV being kitted out with solar just for that purpose was a great benefit to them as was the 2ft residential king mattress and all the accessories were included.

A deal has been made, deposit paid and the arrangement to be finalized on Saturday.

It is so sad to sell her as we know we will never find another as good as this one but we just don't anticipate needing it anymore. Now with the sailboat idea popping up again...

Never a dull moment around here.

PS The court documents were filed yesterday with regards to the house.

Its Xmas time in the RV

On Monday we both had appointments with our new family Doctor. The usual make sure we're still ticking kind of appointment and introduction type thing. Tuesday Brad started a new medication and also went off the vape and on to the patch. He thinks the vape is doing more harm than good and I can't argue the point since its still relatively new. He has been handling it extremely well, I was worried about doing both on the same day, but although he's struggling with it I wouldn't say anymore than would be expected.

Wednesday we did laundry and Xmas shopping for the grandkids and we were going to go and meet a YouTuber we have been following for about 3.5 years - Finding Simon, who is currently renovating a massive 47Ft Solar and Wind Catamaran on an island just north of us. Unfortunately, Brad wasn't quite up to it and we had to back out but we will try again hopefully this week. Not sure but I think I mentioned that we're back on the sailboat kick again... just can't shake it, probably doesn't help that we see them all day every day in the harbours around here. Still calculating the Monohull / Catamaran issue, not to mention the are we on crack issue....

Ray & Deb are planning a trip to Victoria and I am currently working on convincing Brad to join them as we've been wanting to go that way since we arrived but haven't managed it yet. Give me time... give me time... (and don't mention it -- Margaret!)

Otherwise its been a rather quiet week outside of pickleball. Our lot closes Escrow tomorrow (Monday) so that will be one less headache.

Saturday was Dec 1st of course, so the Xmas stuff goes up. It makes it feel more enclosed in here that's for sure.

Got a 2Ft'er this year because last year's 3Ft'er was too big

Learned this one from my Daughter-in-Law

Did that damn mirror too that we hate but are afraid to take off in case it ruins the 'wallpaper'

She's a cutie and our stockings hang nicely on our cell phone magnet balls

Truth

We went to a local Xmas Craft Fair down in Fulford yesterday and they had Sherry Trifle! No way was I passing that up, got the last one too. Heavy on the Sherry it was. Delish.

Supper once again at The Oyster Catcher
and our favourite waiter explained that this picture on their wall comes from an old pub in North Hampshire, England called Shipstones, hence the name of the attached pub at The Oyster Catcher.

I have likely posted this before but its so awesome that it is worth repeating.

OH, and Santa?! -- I've been a VERY GOOD Girl! :D

Mother's Day Trip

We have decided to bite the bullet. We are going to attempt to quit smoking...

We each now have a 'Vape' and while I'm not promoting vaping because frankly to me it's just as bad and possibly worse given its limited time on the market, making it an unknown entity possibly worse than cigarettes, but we need to do something. We've both been puffing about a pack a day and that is just insane... appreciably it has been a stressful time lately but neither of us is happy with how much we've been smoking lately. We are both feeling the effects of this, so... I figure, right now we have nothing to lose by trying to wean off using a vape.

Yesterday was Mother's Day so we took some time to chillax. Jumped in the Jeep and drove down to Elbow, SK. It's a quaint little town and we seem drawn to it a lot. Not quite a 'resort or beach town', but it has a couple of restaurants and some shops. We stopped for lunch at our usual haunt and then headed down to the beach.

The coolest part of Elbow, to me anyway, is The Sod House. You'd almost think this would be a prairie staple but its the only one I've ever seen in these parts.

Very quiet this time of year but in no time it will be packed. Yesterday, we had the beach to ourselves and even got Robbie to go in the water (he hates water) to fetch a stick.

Only others around were across the water also enjoying a quiet beach.

My husband is awesome. Taking us to the beach even though he's been really sick the last several days - hence the bunny hug in 25C temperatures.  I hope the sunshine and fresh air will help him feel better. It is massage day today, but last night he was sure he wouldn't be able to go. If your sick they advise not to get a massage, something about the massage spreading it throughout your body....

We drove around to check out the RV 'Resorts' in the area...

Definitely not The Ranch

Seriously, thankfully it was dry but you can clearly see that isn't always the case, and what a mess.

Barely visible in the pic there is a deer just left of the road

So my thinking? Wouldn't it be awesome if we could winter in California and then return to Canada and summer in a sailboat - the sailboat being what originally started our RV life, Brad's dream.

Lake Diefenbaker is over 800 sq km. A massive lake that you could do some awesome sailing on without freaking out your wife! Keeps us close to family too. Perhaps we could buy a lot in town and build a smaller version of our current house.... Anyway, we need to sort out some stuff before we go worrying about that just yet. Options, options....

There are a ton of lakes in Northern Saskatchewan but there are always forest fires up north so being in the South Central area would be better, I think.
