Long time no see

I received a request for an update. I haven't written in quite a while and my public misses me LOLOL...

What have we been doing? Well we started our Keto lifestyle on December 1st. We have each lost approx 30 lbs so far (he a bit more and I a bit less)... we are loving the keto life. We get to eat all kinds of delicious treats which we never used to eat before, we were not dessert people. Now I make cheesecake 'fat bombs'... as our diet is 5% Carbs, 25% proteins and 70% fats there is plenty of room for what we would have previously considered 'junk' food (desserts). I make peanut butter cups, keto pizza... tons of delicious recipes all of which are popular with our friends. For anyone considering the Keto Lifestyle, I personally recommend using 'The Carb Manager' app, just put in your details and the system will create a meal plan, grocery list and gives you excellent recipes. We have not found a recipe we didn't like on the app, and that says a lot!

We spent about 5 days in Jasper doing a dog sit in about February, I think. It was nice to get a change of scenery and the 2 dogs were very well behaved. All 3 dogs got along great.

Stacey is planning a trip out here likely in May and Meg will be coming out again sometime soon, although nothing definitive.

(don't tell her I put this here ;) )

My garden starts are doing fabulous and are just waiting for the weather to stabilize. We were in double digits last week but yesterday we got an inch or so of snow again.

What else? I dunno, just playing Pickleball, going to Cards, volunteering for catering events at the club...

I have begun to expand my Reiki thing, I wouldn't call it a 'business' but I am expanding it so that people anywhere in the world can book a personalized online session with me.

Also, I have always wanted to do Pottery and so I have begun teaching myself how and Brad picked up a large craft table for me just yesterday.

Robbie is doing great. His cataracts were quite bad and as I know that Castor Oil works well for human cataracts I decided to use a dropper and try it on him, there was really nothing to lose as his eyesight was so terribly poor. It has made a huge difference for him (* not medical or veterinary advise), his eyes have mostly cleared up and he can see so much better now. His hearing however.... well, he takes after his father.

Our Granddaughter was in the Edmonton Cheer competition this past weekend and so we went to the big city for that. Her team placed 5th of sooo many teams. It was a fun day for her.

I think that about sums it up. Just day to day winter doldrums really for the past few months. Super excited to have Spring springing.

Right then, carrying on...

This is a plan of our backyard, each square is a square foot....
We will be building the raised garden beds along the left side this year, we will see how we make out with those this year and if needed we can add the extra boxes which run along the back fence next year. Wood is hella expensive this year so... yep, we'll see how it goes.

Having now received my Master Reiki Practitioner Certificate, I have set up what would -and may still be, my Craft and Sprout room with my reiki bed too.

The sprouts will be taken out of there in a couple of weeks, our last frost date is mid May in these parts.

A photo I found from my latest trip to Saskatoon, dinner out with family and friends. Girls night out.

Warm welcome to my one and only reader now that my blog has returned to Blogger... we begin again.

**  Today I discovered that my cell phone was saving pictures as HEIF/HEIP files instead of jpeg. This is causing problems with uploading to blogger. I have now corrected the problem on my phone and pictures will now be saved as jpeg as they have historically always been. No clue how this happened, an update somewhere along the way, no doubt.

We have a special guest coming to visit in a few weeks, so watch for that.

Blog update and Reiki

Something else now wants renewing to do with the blog. I believe it is the .com part. In any event, I will not be renewing this.

Should the blog still remain on Blogspot, my posts will continue. If not, this will be the end of the blog.

Time will tell.

I have just returned from 2 weeks in Saskatchewan helping out family with a project, I did not take any pics etc of that to post about.

Interesting new thing....

I am learning Reiki.

Many years ago my sister-in-law suggested Reiki for Brad, unfortunately as we have a history of living in remote places Reiki was never readily available (at a reasonable cost, ie Salt Spring Island)...

Recently a friend put me on to a Reiki practitioner and I booked Brad and myself in, myself only for curiosity as I have always been a firm believer in energy. Brad is the one with 'injuries' and it never even occurred to me that it would help me at all, I just wanted to try it...

Reiki is the application of healing energy. It is performed fully clothed and without touch, if requested.

Well... after just one 30 min treatment, my hip which has been an issue since we went RVing in 2018 is healed. My elbow which has been an issue since October 2021 is healed. AND, my shoulder which has been an issue since October of 2022 is healed -- all of which were still an issue when I arrived for the appointment. In fact, my shoulder pain was so severe during the treatment that I almost sat up and called it off....

When none of the injuries returned after several weeks, I decided to look into learning the art. I am now a Reiki practitioner (though still currently in training). I did not learn this with the goal of a job, just with personal, family/friends in mind and will just do the occasional treatment for those at home.

Obviously, I highly recommend Reiki for any, and I do mean ANY, injuries/health concerns.

**Note: Advise your practitioner if you have a pacemaker or diabetes.

Pacemaker because the energy can cause issues, so they must work 'around' the chest area.

Diabetes (specifically insulin taking) as Reiki can help regulate blood sugar and thereby one could overdose on insulin if not monitoring sugars properly.
